In his welcome address, the High Commissioner observed: “I hope for and look forward to Guyana and Aberdeen forging a long and mutually beneficial twinning relationship”.
In reply, the Lord Provost welcomed the opportunity to build and to create a spirit of co-operation between the City of Aberdeen and Guyana. “Aberdeen has more than 40 years as the Oil and Gas capital of Europe. The UK and Guyana share a common language and indeed the Guyana diaspora has made a significant contribution to the public life of the UK”.
